Our Story

Alan and Trisha Kroll built The Diff in the Fall of 2010. They established this non-profit organization with the sole purpose of trying to make a difference in the lives of young athletes. Alan and Trisha have had a heart for young people and sports for as long as they can remember.

Alan was an All-American swimmer in high school and a collegiate swimmer at the University of Kansas. Following his college career, he landed an assistant coaching position for the swim team at the University of Kansas (KU)!  Now with 3 sons and two daughters,  Alan is on the sidelines cheering his kids on.

Trisha was an All-State volleyball player in high school and played Division I volleyball as a setter for the University of Kansas. She has been coaching volleyball since 1998. She started coaching at the club level while in Kansas. After moving to Colorado, she became a high school coach at Holy Family in 2002 and continued her career there for 10 years.

In 2012, Trisha started The Diff VBC. In the club’s first year the 14 Black team finished 3rd in the region and qualified for Junior Nationals in the USA Division. In 2013-2014 (The Club’s second year of existence), the 15 Black team finished 4th in the Region and qualified for Junior Nationals in the National Division. In 2014-2015 The Diff 16 Black got 5th at Nationals in the Patriot division. In 2015-2016 The Diff 17 Black team won JNQs and cinched the National bid for the RMR region and The Diff 16 Black team  earned a Bronze Medal at Girls Junior Nationals in Indianapolis being on of the only teams from Colorado to Medal at Nationals that year. In 2016-2017 The Diff 17s team placed 2nd in Open in Las Vegas and Qualified at the Big South Qualifier in the USA Division.
