Pi’i is the former head coach at the University of Colorado and was active in the program from its inception. While at CU, Aiu compiled a record of 199-154 (.566) over the course of 12 seasons and is the winningest, head coach in the school’s history. He had a 128-112 mark in Big 12 Conference matches.

Aiu was named the 1997 Big 12 Coach of the Year, as well as the District V Coach of the Year after guiding the Buffs to a 22-9 record (16-4 Big 12) and the NCAA Sweet 16. Colorado had 45 victories over ranked opponents and 28 of those have come under Aiu’s watch. He is the only coach to lead his team past a No. 1 ranked opponent as the Buffs defeated Nebraska on Nov. 11, 2006; the loss was NU’s only of the season as the Huskers went on to win the NCAA Championship.

During his first year at The Diff, Pii’s 16s Black Team got Bronze at Nationals; the only Colorado team to medal at Nationals in 2016.
